Link Wheel
Link wheel is the term applied to a web promotion technique that utilizes social media sites to announce your website to the world. Your website, called the "money site"needs an advertising plan. Don't think like Kevin Costner: "If you build it they will come." Ha! You must employ web promotion methods to advertise your site and in Internet commerce, and that means earning better search engine traffic.
A link wheel diagram displays how this strategy unfolds. In the graphic below, note how linking many sites, mostly Web 2.0 sites, to each other and with each of these siteslinking to your money site form what looks like a wagon wheel...hence the term. When we use the term "Web 2.0", we mean social networking sites.

As you can see by looking at this graphic, a 12 node link wheel diagram is in use. That means 12 social networking sites are involved. Now, think about that. All those sites have an
established membership status with login credentials. All all of these sites contain profile information about the user and an entry of at least 500 words. Also, some of these
sites encourage you to be active on the site, reviewing other members' pages or "lenses". Wow, that's a lot of work.
The link wheel diagram does not show arrows indicating direction, however, you link from one social site to another until all of the sites are connected in ONE direction. The direction is not
important. Additionally, every social site links to your main, or "money site". So a text entry on a site would like to one social site and also to your money site: using the proper keywords. Let's
not forget that the relevance of the text links must be consistent on all sites and it must include the keywords that you have selected on your money site.
Is This Worth It?
...And is this a legitimate method to build one way links to your site? In the SEO business we like to use the terms "white hat" and "black hat" to identify proper and sneaky ways to
optimize your site. And some like to use the term "gray hat". Well, if you are wondering if this is all legit, ask yourself the question; Are my actions things I would do if I was
promoting a brick and mortar business? Are these strategies and tactics similar to what I would do to advertise my business in a pre-Internet world?
If your intentions are to make as many announcements in as many ways as possible to let people know you exist...then, yes, these are probably all legit. The Internet is still like the
Wild Wild West. We are trying new things every day to find as many prospects for our online business as we can. Here's a great piece on whether the link wheel strategy
is legitimate.
At DomainDrivers we think it's all in your purpose. We like the concept because you are, in the link wheel diagram above, establishing your business presence in 12 locations that
are frequented by millions of people. This is a sound marketing strategy. If you hung signs on telephone polls around your neighborhood advertising the grand opening of your new store...
would that be legit? Surely it would. So if the posting of your particular expertise, service or product is going to attract viewers that may visit your site, or spread the word about
you site, what's illegitimate about that?
Now what about the investment? This is a laborious process. And what costs more in your business than labor? Because of the complexity of this method
we customize all link wheel services. Use the form below to contact us and we'll discuss your particular situation and price out a proposal that fits you needs and your budget.
